Haiti Earthquake: Total Donates €1 Million to Red Cross
Total has decided to make an emergency donation of €1 million to the French Red Cross to enable disaster-struck Haiti to receive aid as quickly as possible.
The French humanitarian organization has been present in Haiti for 13 years and conducts development programs in the country with the help of around 60 delegates.
The donation will be used to finance a significant portion of the emergency aid program, which involves:
- Setting up an emergency medical clinic, to be shared with another Red Cross organization.
- Installing a water purification unit that can treat 15,000 liters of water a day.
Providing shelter and basic necessities for 20,000 people. - Establishing ten centers providing treatment for some 10,000 people, with medical supplies from pharmaceutical foundation Tulipe.
Total is one of the first companies to respond to the appeal for help issued by the French Red Cross.
Already on January 13, the Group decided to provide assistance to Pompiers Sans Frontières, enabling the French non-profit organization to immediately dispatch emergency services teams to the disaster area.
