Ocean acidification and biodiversity.
The Port-Cros symposiums are intended to help raise awareness and provide information on biodiversity, with a view to identifying the important issues, as well as the measures necessary to preserve it.
The symposiums take place on the Ile of Porquerolles (South of France) which is a model in sustainable management of marine resources.

The purpose of the symposiums is to focus on a specific topic linked to marine biodiversity; a multidisciplinary issue is selected so as elicit a rich variety of points of view.

The 2011 session, organized by the Total Foundation in partnership with IUCN and Parc national de Port-Cros, is the sixth in a series on the subject of Ocean Acidification and Marine Biodiversity.
Scientific conferences The Ocean in a High CO2 World held in Monaco assess the advance of science and the research needs. The purpose of the Port-Cros symposium is to complement this approach with a multi-partner discussion, based on natural sciences and questioning the legal, economic and management aspects of the issue.
